International Bulletproof Armoring Standards

Steps for shielding

PREPARING THE CAR TO BE ARMORED
Once the customer's vehicle has entered our transformation plant, a work order is issued that describes materials and levels of protection that will be carried out on the car. From this moment on, the armor part of the vehicle begins. First, IronGlass covers the entire surface of the car with 3M tape™ specialized protection together with a fabric that protects the vehicle body.
DISMANTLING AND EVALUATION OF DEGREES OF PROTECTION
Next, we completely dismantle the interior of the vehicle. All the inner parts are removed and assigned a corresponding number so that nothing is out of place, being protected with cloth and tapes. The process continues by measuring the floor, ceiling, doors, allowing us to cut and build the pieces of ballistic material needed to cover each of these areas.

This process determines the maximum degree of protection requested, working to minimize the reengineering of the basic structure in applications and cuts for this type of vehicle. These materials stop penetrations covered by the required ballistic resistance standards according to the defined threat level.
Main armour
The different materials are installed in the vehicle (doors, shutters and others). All the materials that are handled during installation have the highest quality levels according to international standards and have been tested in the world's leading laboratories.
The thermoformed panels are locally manufactured, produced in our own plant, according to established procedures and approved according to ballistic tests carried out at HP White Laboratory Inc. laboratories in the United States. With only 4.5 kg of weight per square meter, they are the lightest in the domestic market, while maintaining maximum protection of the vehicle. The most important goal in any IronGlass installation is to achieve maximum protection of the vehicle and its occupants, at the same time that we are concerned that the vehicle maintains a reasonable weight.
GLASS SHIELDING
The original glass is replaced by armored glass, the latter with a variable thickness depending on the installation requested by the customer. After installing the windows, install the requested windshield and windows, which have a perfect finish, without showing a different installation than the original factory of the vehicle.
INTERIORS AND FINAL DETAILS
In the final step, we will reinstall the interior of the vehicle as received. Our technicians are trained to preserve the luxury and beauty of the original vehicle, paying attention to every detail.

At the customer's request, special accessories will be installed and the vehicle can also be plotted as requested.

Thanks to IronGlass, the vehicle is fully armored, and maintains its original factory appearance unchanged.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Are all vehicles capable of being armored?

Yes, at IronGlass we work with shielding solutions for all makes and models.

Is the armor usually noticeable to the eye?

No, the armor is not noticeable to the naked eye. Armor that is imperceptible to the eye is safer for the owner and its occupants, which is why at IronGlass we work on the details and finish of the vehicle to make it look as if its components were original from the factory.

What is it like to drive around with an armored vehicle?

With an armored vehicle, the user travels normally, both in the city and on highways, roads and various roads, without taking into account any extraordinary precautions, giving the vehicle the normal use for which it was designed, always respecting traffic regulations.

Does an armored vehicle lose resale value?

Armored vehicles do not lose resale value, and there is currently a high demand for armored cars because of the security they provide. It is important that the armored vehicle has been treated with sufficient quality and expertise by the armoring company to ensure the return on investment at the time of sale. At IronGlass we guarantee a top quality shielding service, made by hand by technicians and engineers who receive constant training.

What is the right level of armor for me?

The level of shielding will depend on the protection and safety needs of each user. The most commonly used armor in IronGlass is Level RB3, sufficient to be shielded against the most common weapon calibers such as 32, 38, 40 and 9 mm.

Is shielding activity regulated?

In Argentina, the RENAR (National Weapons Registry) is the entity that regulates this activity, classifies the different ballistic levels and approves all the materials that will be used in vehicle armor. RENAR is also the body that grants the authorization to be a manufacturer of armored vehicles. Self-insurance under its umbrella brand X-Solutions is duly registered as such.

Is the car getting heavier?

The vehicle increases between 80 and 160 kg according to the requested armor.

Is an armored car stronger in case of accidents?

The materials installed are prepared to stop the energy coming from projectiles. In the event of accidents, the energy of the blow can also be stopped by the material that an armored vehicle has.

It should be noted that the materials used for armor do not modify the vehicle's design, and therefore energy absorption in impacts with other vehicles or various objects will not be affected.

Who can drive an armored vehicle?

Anyone who wishes to operate an armored unit must have two requirements: Request the CLU (Legitimate User Credential) equivalent to a driver's license, and Tenure (equivalent to the Green Card); both documents are granted by the RENAR (National Weapons Registry).

What are the levels of armor?

The options offered by IronGlass are in accordance with the different levels of armor that exist according to the RENAR (National Weapons Registry).

• RBO Level → .22 LR & .38 SPL caliber projectiles
These shields protect against .22 LR and .38 SPL caliber projectiles.
‍
• LEVEL RB1 → .357 MG low speed & 9 MM low speed projectiles.
These shields protect against .357 Mg and 9 mm low-velocity projectiles.

• LEVEL RB2 → .357 MG high-speed & 9 MM medium-speed projectiles.
These shields protect against .357 Mg high velocity and 9 mm caliber medium-speed projectiles.

• LEVEL RB3 → .44 MG & 9 MM high speed caliber projectiles. These shields protect against .44 MG and 9 MM caliber high-speed projectiles.

• LEVEL RB4 → 7.62 MM NATO & 5.56 MM NATO caliber projectiles.
These shields protect against 7.62 mm NATO (.308 Winchester) and 5.56 mm NATO (.223 Remington) projectiles.

• LEVEL RB5 → 7.62 MM NATO Perforating Projectiles.
These shields protect against a 7.62 mm NATO (.308 Winchester) “P” armoring projectile fire
